Can I do in-person sessions?
Clients located in or around Raleigh, NC may have options for in-person sessions either for regular check-ins or for special sessions such as grocery store visits, cooking together, or exercise meet-ups. Please reach out to us for additional information on these options.
How do the meetings work?
Meetings are held virtually over Zoom (free to use) or by phone if you prefer. You'll also have your health coach's contact information for any text or email questions between sessions. Sessions are driven by your goals and needs, not by a predetermined plan.
What are your certifications?
Our coaches have earned certificates in Plant-Based Nutrition from the T. Colin Campbell Center for Nutrition Studies at Cornell University, and are also Certified Personal Trainers through the American Council on Exercise (ACE). We are currently pursuing certification through the National Board for Health and Wellness Coaching.
Are you dieticians?
No, we are not registered dieticians and cannot diagnose or treat illnesses or prescribe meal plans. As health coaches, we focus on nutrition education and on helping you implement the dietary guidance you receive from your medical team or that you choose for yourself. We can help you understand nutrition labels on food, or review the Dietary Guidelines for Americans. We can also help with practical skills so you can save time and money when grocery shopping and cooking.
What diet will I have to follow?
We do not prescribe any particular diet, and will help you stick to whatever nutrition goals you set for yourself. Personally, we believe Michael Pollan had it right when he famously recommended, "Eat food. Not too much. Mostly plants." We also believe that it can be more helpful and successful over the long-term to focus on what nutritious, health-promoting foods we can add to our diets rather than on what to restrict or deny yourself.
